- Description:
- Midway. Room in Thalian Hall at Oglethorpe University, which was located about 2 miles south of Milledgeville. It was occupied by Sidney Lanier during his student days. It was built in late 1850s by Joseph Lane for Thalian Society, a literary society. During Civil War it housed wounded Confederate soldiers. In 1890, Dr. Henry Dawson Allen purchased the University property to establish Allens' Invalid Home.
