- Description:
- Located at: Gordon, Ga.
The Soloman Street Cemetary was located on land given by the Soloman family, near what became the site of the kaolin plant in Gordon. The contrast of ancient monuments and graves, ornate iron fences, and crumbling brick walls next to the modern industrial plant is heightened by gnarled and twisted cedar trees, weeping with Spanish moss. The cemetary is covered with a gray patina of kaolin dust. For more information see Linley, John. Architecture of Middle Georgia: the Oconee Area. Athens, Ga.: University of Georgia Press, c1972, p. 167.
