Two-story red brick building featuring an entrance portico with entablature and pediment supported by four Ionic columns, and surmounted by a square clock tower with spire. The previous courthouse burned in 1861 but was not immediately rebuilt due to the Civil War. In 1883, the Georgia state legislature authorized Baldwin County to borrow up to $25,000 to build four fireproof county offices, as well as a courthouse, on the site of the former courthouse. In 1885, work began on the new courthouse, which was completed in 1887. The courthouse was remodeled in 1937 and 1965. A new courthouse was completed in 1997, and the old one was sold to Georgia State College and University, which plans to renovate it.
