Two-story wood frame house featuring a two-story portico with entablature supported by massive square fluted Doric-inspired columns. The balcony over the entrance has been removed. The usual view of the house is from the side, since the house is not parallel to the street. A plaque on the ground reads, "Here lived Dr. David Addison Reese, born in Mecklenburg County, son of a Revolutionary soldier and grandson of a signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence...in politics, a Whig, he succeeded Alexander Stephens as Congressman in 1835." For more information see Linley, John. Architecture of Middle Georgia: the Oconee Area. Athens, Ga.: University of Georgia Press, c1972, pp. 73-74.
