Two-story wood frame house featuring a portico with entablature on three sides, supported by Corinthian columns. The house originally had a wooden ballustrade around the roof. The house was built by Alfred Long Dearing, a son of William Dearing. Building started in 1860 and did not end until 1865. University of Georgia professor Leon Henri Charbonnier lived here in the 1880s. The Classic Revival porch with fourteen columns was added in 1909 by Jessi Horton Wilkins, wife of John Julian Wilkins. The house has been owned by members of the Wilkins family since 1909. For more information see Doster, Gary L. A Post Card History of Athens, Georgia.
