Two-story wood frame structure on a brick foundation which served as a frontier stopping place on a stagecoach line before the advent of railroads. The old part of the building is of logs with original wide boards covering them inside and out. Inside are three staircases. Restored to its original form, the tavern is now a museum run by the Georgia Historical Commission.
