Built in 1886 by William Gibbons Preston, the red brick, granite, and terracotta building was supported by five pairs of iron columns. A Queen Anne style structure, the Exchange sports stubby pilasters, intricate classical detailing, decorative terracotta work, and steep gables. A motif of cotton plants is incorporated in the bands, capitals, and pediment. From 1952 to 1974, the structure housed the Savannah Chamber of Commerce, and since 1974 it has been the home of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, Free and Accepted Masons.
