View from the street. The Augusta architect, Lewis Ford Goodrich, designed the building which was built by J. W. Barnett and completed in 1904. Originally constructed with 27 large rooms and a number of storage rooms, the Lexington granite and buff brick building housed an auditorium, an armory, and offices for city officials and the Chamber of Commerce. The building was constructed of Lexington granite, buff-colored brick, oolitic limestone, tin roof line balustrades, a copper cupola, and a wooden clock tower. The building's three entrances are fronted by square porches.
