Two-story stuccoed brick building with attic, featuring a mansard roof.
Moore College was the only permanent addition to the University of Georgia from the end of the Civil War to the beginning of the 20th Century and was donated by the city of Athens. Dr. Richard Dudley Moore, a trustee of the university and mayor of Athens, believing the growth of the University was important to the growth of Athens, convinced the city to donate the $25,000 needed to build the new classrooms. Professor Leon Henri Charbonnier designed the new building. A graduate of French military school, he taught mathematics and engineering at UGA for almost 40 years. Moore College is the only French Second Empire building on campus.
