- Description:
- Located at: 105 Sumpter Street, Eatonton, Ga.
Early nineteenth century wood frame cottage with a Greek Revival portico that was added later. The older origin is indicated by beaded weatherboarding, low doors, small paned windows and delicate woodwork. Scroll saw braces were added to the slender columns after the portico was built. The Greek Revival portico may have been a response to the newer Gerdings-Young house next door. For more information see Linley, John. Architecture of Middle Georgia: the Oconee Area.
