- Description:
- Located at: 509 Rabun Street, Sparta, Ga.
Remodeled before the Civil War to face Rabun Street, this two-story wood frame house features an inviting Victorian veranda. The original house was L-shaped, with the entrance facing Short Street to the north. The former entrance was changed to a bay window. The original L-shaped plan, roof lines and mutule blocks of the main cornice call to mind the historic Brumby House in Athens, Ga. For more information see Linley, John. Architecture of Middle Georgia: the Oconee Area. Athens, Ga.: University of Georgia Press, c1972, p. 104.
