English Gothic style buildings designed by Harry Carlson of Boston and built with money donated by Henry and Clara Ford of the Ford Motor Company. Three plans were drawn before Ford was satisfied. Though he did not want recognition for his donation, Ford did participate in a ground breaking ceremony, and the shovel that he used is on display in the Martha Berry Museum. An archway leads into an open courtyard. The left door in the archway leads into the admission offices. The first of the Ford Buildings to be completed was Clara Hall, a women's dormitory for 100 students, in 1925. Also completed in 1925 was Ford Hall, originally a dining hall. Other Ford Buildings include the Gymnasium, Mary Hall, Recitation Hall, the Ford Auditorium and the Lamar Westcott Building, which originally housed the food processing plant and school laundry. The grounds of the Ford Complex were planned under the direction of Cridland Corporation of Philadelphia. Ten days before his death in 1947, Henry Ford planted a tree on the grounds.
