Two-story wood frame house with hipped roof and two internal chimneys, featuring a one-story entrance portico with pediment supported by two posts. The President's House is on the site of what was originally Stewart's Hall, built in 1835 and occupied by Peter Northern from 1840 to 1844. It was enlarged for the President in 1845, Dr. J. L. Dagg, who lived here until 1854. A brick dining hall to the right of the house, which was built in 1833, burned in 1843. The present building was built in 1857 for the President, Dr. N. M. Crawford.
