The circa 1828 Greek Revival home originally had a one-story entry portico and was owned by Samuel Reid, a Troup County surveyor. The portico was remodeled in the 1920s by Henry Glanton to span two floors and to be supported by four large Doric columns. In the 1940s, the Hutchinson family added a one-story wing. Cloverland was recognized in 1993 as a Georgia Centennial farm.
