Originally erected at Oxford as a hotel for Emory students, this two-story stuccoed brick building features a two-story portico with entablature and pediment supported by four heroic Doric columns. The pediment features a portal ventilator. The building was moved to its present site on the Town Square at Clark and Hunter Streets prior to the Civil War. Aided by its gravel roof, it escaped destruction in a fire which destroyed all other buildings on the north side of the Square in 1883. For more information see Williford, William Bailey. The Glory of Covington. Atlanta: Cherokee Publishing Co., c1973.
