View from road. Built circa 1870 by Monroe Davidson, the one-story house now known as "The Gables" has three steep dormers on the facade and an elaborate gingerbread porch. The roof of the porch has been renovated to become a balcony enclosed by a balustrade. The house remained in the Davidson family as the home of W. S. and Annie Davidson Howell until the 1940s. W. S. Howell was the School Superintendent of Meriwether County from 1909 to 1924. The house was later owned by William C. Hay, John B. Griggs, and most recently by Morgan Green and his wife. For more information see Pinkston, Regina P. Historical Account of Meriwether County, 1827-1974. Greenville, Ga.: Gresham Printing Co., c1974, p. 208.
