This one-story house features a pyramidal roof with two internal chimneys and a shed roofed porch. Bostwick, a town eleven miles north of Madison, was named after John Bostwick, a Georgia State Representative, who helped develop the community. He built a cotton gin and lead the organization of a railroad that ran from Bostwick to Apalachee and eventually to Monroe. The town thrived when cotton farming was profitable in the 1920s, and had two gins, a cotton seed oil mill, depot and train station, bank, hotel, a dry cleaning business, three doctors, a blacksmith shop, a post office, and three businesses with gas pumps. Bostwick still has one fo the few operational cotton gins in Georgia. The four principle stores in Bostwick were Bostwick General Merchandise Company, T. H. Nolan General Merchandise Company, the Nunn store, and L. P. McDougal Grocery.
