This two-story stuccoed brick house features a one-story porch with ornate cast iron columns, brackets and railings. The entrance features sidelights and transom, and is framed by pilasters and entablature in the Greek Revival tradition. Full length windows open onto the porch. Brick latticework is visible below the porch railing. Early owners of this home include Judge E. K. Lumpkin, grandson of Joseph Henry Lumpkin. Here Mary Bryan Thomas Lumpkin, the Judge's wife, called together 12 women in January, 1891, to organize the Ladies Garden Club of Athens -- the first garden club in America. The Lumpkin House is now part of the Young Harris Methodist Church.
