Built in 1840, the Greek Revival home is a brick and scored stucco rectangular, two-storied home with a hipped roof with an entablature type parapet on three sides. The house has a two story modified Greek Doric porch and was built on a central hall plan. Renovations include the 1885 enclosure of the rear porches and their subsequent removal in 1979. The building underwent an adaptive restoration between 1979-1980 by Group Five architects (Atlanta) for use by the First National Bank of Athens. For more information, see Linley, John. The Georgia catalog, Historic American Buildings Survey: a guide to the architecture of the state. Athens, Ga.: University of Georgia Press, c1982, p. 266.
