The frame and clapboard house with a central hall plan is two stories high with a hipped roof, one interior chimney and two exterior ones. The two-story porch has round fluted columns. Original structure, a plantation plain style house, was built for Thomas Winfield in the late 18th century. In 1830s, Jesse Callaway made several major additions. In the 1850s, Francis G. Wingfield added a Greek Revival porch, and after the Civil War, W. G. Cade had a kitchen added.
The outbuildings include an old separate kitchen, a privy, dairy, milk barn and well house. For more information, see Linley, John. The Georgia catalog, Historic American Buildings Survey: a guide to the architecture of the state. Athens, Ga.: University of Georgia Press, c1982, p. 347-8.
