Due to the time involved some people prefer to take their vehicle to an Motor Vehicle Inspection Station. The Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations are not "State" operated. These stations are privately owned and the owners of these stations charge a additional fee for use of their facilities.

These Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations are located in Athens, Morganton, Fort Vallev, Cartersville, Savannah, and Gainesville. The inspectors are at an inspection station three times a week: Tuesdav, Wednesday and Thursdav. They rotate to the stations on a two week rotation basis. For example if they are at the Athens Station the first Tuesday of the month, thev will not be back at that station until the third Tuesday of the month.

The times of these stations are 8:30 a.a. - 4:45 p.m. All vehicles to be inspected must be at the station before 2:00 p.m. or it .i1l not be inspected. All vehicles must be transported and not driven to the stations. Vehicles are inspected on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Schedules are subiect to change (i.e. Holidavs, etc.) so we would su~gest that you call the inspection station involved to verify the dates befor~ you invest your time and transportation.
