Re~ardless of the extent of damage to such vehicle or the number of major component parts required to repair such vehicle, but shall not mean or include any stolen motor vehicle which has been recovered with the public manufacturer's vehicle identification number plate intact and the vehicle: I. II. III. Is undamaged. Has only cosmetic damage; or Has been damaged but only to the extent that it's restoration to an operable condition will not require the replacement of two or more major component parts: (c) It is an imported motor vehicle which has been damaged in shipment and disclaimed by the manufacturer as a result of the damage, has never been subject to a retail sale to a consumer, and has never been issued a certificate of title. The term salvage motor vehicle shall not include any motor vehicle for which a total loss CIaImhas been paid when vehicle has sustained onlv cosmetic dam!A! from causes other than fire or -flo-o-d. NOTE: Major component part means anv one of the following subassemblies of a motor vehicle: (a) Front clip assembly (fenders, grille, hood and bumper); (b) Rear clip assembly (quarter panels and floor panel assemblv); (c) Engine and transmission; (d) Top assembly, with the exception of "soft tops"; (e) Frame; or (f) Complete side (fenders, door(s), and quarter panel). WHEN MUST YOU APPLY FOR A SALVAGE CEKTIFICATE OF TITLE? You must apply for a Salvage Certificate of Title for a salvage motor vehicle as defined above within thirtv (30) days of the purchase or acquisition of the motor vehicle or within thirtv (3 0 ) d a v s 0 f the p a ym e n t 0 f a " tot a I los s c i aim. " 1 PROCEDURES "tOR OBTAINING A SALVAGE TITLE WHEN THE OWNER IS RETAINING THE SALVAGE VEHICLE AS A RESULT OF A "TOTALLOSS" CLAIM BEING PAID, AN APPT.. ICATION FOR A SALVAGE TITLE MUST BE MADE BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY BEFORE THE PAYMENT OF THE "TOTAL LOSS" CLAIM. . To apply for a "salvage" title, the insurance company must submit the following to the Motor Vehicle Division, P. O. Box 740384, Capitol Hill Station, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384, Attention: Salva~e Office: 1. A properly completed MV-IS application (typed and si~ned) in the owner(s) name(s). 2. The Georgia Title in the insured's name (if available), the manufacturer's statement of origin or the out of state title (in the applicant's name or properly assigned to the applicant). If an application for a replacement title is being made, then the applicable block on the top left hand corner of this form must be checked. 3. Submit a T-4 (lien or security interest release) form for all satisfied liens or security interests if not released in the spaces provided on the title. 4. Submit a properly completed T-56 (Notice to Owner - Payment of Total Loss Claim ) signed/initialed by the insured and signed by an agent of the insurance company. 5. Submit check or money order made payable to the Motor Vehicle Division for the total fees due (e.g. $18.00 title fee, anv title penalties, out-of-state title transfer fees which may be due). 6. Submit the license plate (except out-of-state license plates** or specialized plates which remain with the vehicle owner) with a completed T-158 (Report of and/or Surrender of Georgia License Plate) form; or submit a completed T-158 form si~ned by an authorized Motor Vehicle Agent certifying that the license plate has been submitted to the County Tag Office or State Motor Vehicle Division; or submit the T-158 form with proof of Certified/re~istered mailing (i.e. green returned receipt card signed by authorized agent of Motor Vehicle Division). 2 WHEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS RETAINING THE SALVAGE VEHICLE AS A RESULT OF A "TOTAL LOSS" CLAIM BEING PAID, THE IN'SURANCE COMPANY MUST APPLY FOR A "SALVAGE" TITLE IN THEIR NAME WITHIN THIRTY DAYS OF THE INSURANCE SETTLEMENT To apply for a "salvage" title in their name, the insurance company must submit the following documents to the Motor Vehicle Division, P. O. Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384, Attention: Salvage Office (all documents and fees must be submitted together). 1. A proper Iv completed MV-IS application (typed and signed bv an authorized representative of the insurance company). THE MV-IS APPLICATION CANNOT BE USED TO APPLY FOR A "STOLEN/ UNRECOVERED" TITLEORA"STOLEN/RECOVERED UNDAMAGED" TITLE. 2. The title must be submitted properly assigned to the insurance companv and with all recorded liens or security interests properly released 3. A check or money order must be submitted made payable to the Motor Vehicle Division for all fees which may be due (e.g. $IR.OO title fee and any title penalties which may be due). 4. Submit th~ Georgia license plate (except for specialized license plateS which remain with the vehicle owner) together with a completed T-158 (Report of and/or Surrender of Georgia License Plate). NOTE: For ten model year or older vehicles, the application for salvage title is not required to be made bv th~ insurance company prior to paying a "Total Loss" claim if the title is not available at the time of settlement; however, the owner has thirty (30) days from the date of settlement to obtain the title and apply for a salvage title. In this case, the insurance company must obtain the Georgia license plate (except specialized license plates which remain with the vehicle owner), tag registration for surrender to the Motor Vehicle Division at the above address along with a completed T-158 (Report of and/or Surrender of Georgia License Plate) and T-56 (Insurance Notification Form) E.!!.!-!-Eav!.!!.L.! "total loss" claim. The owner should retain a copy of the tag registration certificate for their records. Once a vehicle is declared a "salvage" vehicle, the license plate must be removed from the vehicle. All Georgia License Plates (except specialized license plates) are to be surrendered to the State or county tag office together with a completed T-158 (Report of and/or Surrender of Georgia License Plate) form. 3 ---~ WHAT MUST I DO IF I DtSPOSE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE AS SCRAP METAL/PARTS OR I SCRAP. DISMANTLE OR DEMOLISH A MOTOR VEHICLE? In accordance with Section 40-3-36 of the Georgia Annotated Code, anv re~istered owner, or authorized agent of a re~istered owner who in any manner sells or disposes of any motor vehicle as scrap metal or parts only or who scraps, dismantles, or demolishes a motor vehicle shall within seventv-two (72) hours, mail or deliver the Certificate of Title and the Georgia License Plate to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post-office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384, for cancellation. A letter containing a complete description of the vehicle (make, year model and identification number) must be submitted with the title, license plate and completed T-158 form (Report of And/Or Surrender of Georgia License Plate). This letter must be si~ned and reference the disposition of the vehicle (e.g., vehicle demolished, vehicle being sold for parts only, etc.). The title should be in your name or should be properlv assigned to you. 4 WHAT IS REQUIRED TO ~ANSFER A SALYAGE TITLE ON A VEHICLE THAT ~ HAS .OT BEER REBUILT? ~ MV-l: An MV-l title application must be completed in detail and submitted. This application must be typed and signed. If the applicant is a companv, the company's name must be shown above the authorized signature. Remember, every Geor~ia owner of this vehicle other than a licensed dealer must title this vehicle in their name before transferrin~. Salva~e Title: Original Salvage Certificate of Title must be properlv assigned to the applicant and submitted by the applicant. T-22R: If the applicant is not a licensed rebuilder (see note below), a completed T-22R form must be submitted or a letter requesting an inspection of the vehicle must be submitted. The letter must include the exact location of the vehicle and the name and telephone number (including the area code) of the person to contact regarding the inspection of this vehicle by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. Tit!!_Fee/r~~ction Fee: A certified check or monev order made payable to the Georgia Motor Vehicle Division in the amount of $68.00 must be submitted. DO NOT SEND CASH. The title fee is ~18.00. The inspection fee is $50.06 and is required by law to be in certified funds. Inspec~ion fee is not needed if ~he vehicle has not been rebuilt and ~he applicant is a licensed rebuilder. NOTE: Only licensed rebuilders or dealers are allowed to transfer a Georgia "Salvage" Certificate of Title in ~heir naBe without the vehicle first being inspected by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. 5 ARE OUT-OP-STATE VEHicLES REQUIRED TO BE INSPECTED? Any motor vehicle for which the current out-of-state Certificate of Title is marked "Salvage", "Rebuilt*" or "Restored*" or any similar such phrase must be inspected by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. Any vehicle which has been declared as "non-rebuildable" will not be titled in the State of Georgia. Refer to the steps listed below for requirements. * If the out-of-State title's legend indicates vehicle was rebuilt in another state; parts bills and T-129 (Labor and Parts Certification) are ~! needed. APTER I HAVE REPAIRED OR HAD SOHEONE REPAIR POR HE A SALVAGE HOTOR VEHICLE. HOW DO I APPLY POR A NEW CERTIPICATE OP TITLE? After you obtain a "Salvage" Certificate of Title and rebuild or have someone rebuild the vehicle for you, vou must applv for a "Rebuilt" Certificate of Title. To apply for a "Rebuilt" Certificate of Title, the following documents must be submitted together to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384, Attention: Salvage. IMPORTANT: Vehicle is not to be painted until after it has been inspected and has passed the Inspection by~e-Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. 1. One or more pictures of the motor vehicle in its salvaged condieion must be submitted. - 2. A completed MV-l title application must be submitted. This form must be typed and signed by the applicant(s). 3. The "salvage" certificate of Title issued either in the applicant's name or properly assigned to him must be submitted. Remember, every Georgia owner other than a licensed dealer is required to title the vehicle in their a name before transfer of title. 4. A T-22R form (Request for Inspection of Rebuilt Motor Vehicle) must be completed and submitted. 5. A T-129 (Labor and Parts Certification) must be completed, signed bv the owner, rebuilder and signatures notarized. 6. Submit bill(s) of sale made out to the rebuilder, listing each part used in repairing the vehicle. These bill(s) of sale must indicate whether the part was new or used. The stock number or part number must be shown along with the part name, if the part is new. If the part is used, the serial numher of the parts vehicle it was taken from must be shown. EACh parts bill of sale must be si~ned with the full signature of the seller. 7. A certified check or monev order must be submitted for $68.00 made pavable to the Motor Vehicle Division for payment of the ($18.00) title fee and the ($50.00) inspection fee. 6 AFTER I HAVE REPAIREU-bR HAD SOMEONE REPAIR FOR ME A SALVAGE MOTOR VEHICLE, HOW DO I APPLY FOR A REV CERTIFICATE OF TITLE? (Continued) NOTE: This vehicle must pass an inspection by the Motor Vehicle Division Inspection Section before a new Certificate of Title or a license plate will be issued. When the properlv executed title application, supportin~ documents, and fees have been received and are in order, the Motor Vehicle Inspection Section will be notified for an inspection to be made on this vehicle. Tf this vehicle passes an inspection, the inspectors will authorized the issuance of a Georgia Certificate of Title (e.~. "rebuilt" or without restrictions, based on the number of major component parts used to restore this vehicle). For all vehicles which are restored after November 1, 1982, which required the replacement of two or more major component parts for restoration to an operable condition, the person, firm, or corporation restoring such motor vehicle shall, prior to the inspection of this vehicle bv the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team, caURe the word "Rebuilt" to be permanently affixed to said motor vehicle. The word "rebuilt" shall be stamped on a metal plate which shall be riveted to the motor vehicle or shall be permanently affixed to the motor vehicle. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If a Rebuilder, rebuilds more than three (3) vehicles per calendar year, they must register as a rebuilder with the Secretarv of State's Office. When the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team notifies this office that an unlicensed rebuilder has rebuilt more than three (3) vehicles in a calendar year, the Motor Vehicle Division will not issue another Certificate of Title to this rebuilder until the rebuilder becomes a licensed rebuilder. Georgia law requires that the wrecked vehicle be rebuilt in the State of Georgia. If it fs determined upon the inspection of the vehicle that the vehicle is not in full compliance with the law; the Motor Vehicle Division may order additional corrective repairs to such vehicle as a condition of issuance of a certificate of title. If after an initial inspection of a Motor Vehicle, it is determined that the damage is so extensive that returning the vehicle to a safe-operable condition is impossible, the Certificate of Title shall be revoked and such vehicle may be used onlv for scrap or parts. 7 ~- .~..,. HOW DO I OBTAIN A CERTIFICATE OF TITLE FOR A STOLEN/UNRECOVERED VEHICLE? Insurance companies are required to obtain a Certificate of Title in their name for stolen vehicles for which they have settled a "total loss" claim. They must apply for this title for the stolen vehicle within fifteen (15) days of the date of the settlement of the claim. To apply for a "Stolen/Unrecovered" Certificate of Title, the insurance company must submit the following documents and fees to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384: 1. A completed MV-l title application in the insurance company's name (typed and signed by an authorii~d agent of the insurance company). 2. The valid Certificate of Title in their insured's name must be submitted (properly assigned to the insurance companv). 3. A letter from the insurance company requesting a "Stolen/Unrecovered" Certificate of Title. This letter must indicate when and where the vehicle was stolen. 4. A check or money order for ~18.00 made payable to the Motor Vehicle Division. 8 PROCEDURES FOR- OBTAIRIlIC-:!-A TITLE OR A STOLER/RECOVERED VEHICLE To obtain a Georgia Certificate of Title for a motor vehicle which has been stolen and recovered in an undamaged condition or would require the replacement of less than two major component parts to restore and the serial plate is intact, the following documents must be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384: 1. Submit the license plate from the vehicle with form T-IS8 (Report of and/or Surrender of Georgia License Plate) completed in full. Even if there is no license plate on the vehicle, form T-IS8 should be completed indicating this information and submitted. 2. An MV-l title application must be completed in detail and submitted in the current owner's name. This application must be typed in full and signed by the applicant(s). 3. The current stolen/unrecovered Certificate of Title in the insurance companv's name must be submitted properly assi~ned to the applicant. 4. A signed statement on the insurance company's letterhead stationary must be submitted showing the following information: a. When and where the vehicle was stolen; b. When and where the vehicle was recovered; c. The condition of the vehicle at the time of recoverv, listing any damages at the time the vehicle was recovered. d. The serial plate is intact. 5. Title fee of $18.00 must be submitted. Please Do Not Send Cash. Make the check or money order payable to the Motor Vehicle Division. The new owner has ninety (90) davs from the purchase date to apply for a title in their name to avoid being char~ed a $10.00 penalty fee. 9 STOLER/RECOVERED VEHICLE (Continued) Note: If the motor vehicle was recovered stripped and involves any of the following list of stripped parts then an inspection of the stolen-recovered vehicle will be required: (a) Substantially all irs interior parts (b) Engine (c) Transmission (d) All Doors (e) Complete soft top assembly including roof mechanism (f) Front clip assembly (fenders, hood, and bumper) or (g) Cab and bed of a pick-up truck. If the damage to the vehicle would mean replacing two or more major component parts or the vehicle was recovered stripped as indicated above then see procedures for obtaining a rebuilt certificate of title. If the vehicle is recovered without the serial plate intact, a salvage certificate of title-m~be obtained. 10 BOW,DO I APPLY FOR A lIlEPLACEMENT SERIAL PLATE? ~- To secure a replacement serial plate from the Motor Vehicle Division for a vehicle where the original serial plate issued bv the manufacturer is missing or is altered, the following documents should be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-038A: J. A completed MV-I title application, typed reflecting the original serial number of the vehicle (when known), and signed by the owner(s). 2. The original Certificate of Title or Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (issued in the applicant's name or properly assigned to the applicant) must be submitted. 3. A completed T-128 (Missing Serial Plate Affidavit) must be sub mi t't e din die a tin g the miss in g s e ria I p I ate n u mb e r 4. If the serial plate has been altered, it must be removed and submitted. 5. The title fee of $18.00 must be submitted. DO NOT SEND CASH. Make the check or money order payable to the Motor Vehicle Division. NOTE: If the vehicle is a "Salvage Vehicle", please complv with the procedures in this manual for securing a "Rebuilt Title" after the vehicle has been rebuilt. At that time, the Motor Vehicle Division will issue a Replacement Serial Plate. 11 NEW VEHICLES DAKAGED lR SRIPBEBT, FLOOD ABU/OR WATER DAKAGE Wben a new vebicle bas been damaged in shipment, flood or by water damage, the identification numbers are usually removed and the vehicle is usually disclaimed by the manufacturer. In this case, the manufacturer usually withholds the issuance of a Statement of Origin. Therefore, the only way for a Georgia Certificate of Title to be issued for this vehicle (where the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin is unavailable) is on the basis of a Surety Bond. Also, these type vehicles must pass an inspection by the Motor Vehicle Division Inspection Team before the issuance of a Certificate of Title. To applv for a Georgia Certificate of Title for this type vehicle, the following documents must be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384: 1. An MV-l title application (typed in full and signed by the applicant) must be submitted in the same name(s) as the Principal(s) on the MV-46 Certificate of Title Bond form. 2. An MV-46 (Certificate of Title Bond) form must be submitted executed by an insurance company licensed to issue Surety Bond Insurance in this State. The bond must be for the average retail value of this vehicle according to the current N.A.D.A. Book for automobiles, th~ current Truck Blue Book for trucks, the Official Mobile Home Market Report for mobile bomes or the Motorcycle Blue Book for motorcycles. This MV-46 form must be signed by an authorized representative of the insurance companv, the applicant(s) and by a witness. 3. A power-of-attorney must be submitted from the insurance company authorizing their agent to execute the Certificate of Title Bond form. 4. An MV-46A affidavit must be completed by the applicant for title, explaining why a bond is being submitted in lieu of the required document (i.e. Manufacturer's Statement of Origin). 5. A labor and parts certification form (T-129) must be submitted, completed bv the person who restored this vehicle and the owner certification section signed bv owner and notarized. 6. Submit bill(s) of sale made out to the rebuild~r, listing each part used in repairing the vehicle. These bill(s) of sale must indicate whether the part was n~w or used. The stock number or part number must be shown along with the part name, if the part is new. If the part is used, the serial number of the parts vehicle it was taken from must be shown. Each parts bill of sale must be signed with the full signature of the seller. 7. A Missing Serial Plate Affidavit form (T-127) must be completed and submitted. 12 .. .~ ~ NEV VEHICLES DAMAGED -IN SHIPMENT, FLOOR AND/OR VATER DAMAGE (Continued) 8. A T-22R form must be completed and submitted requesting an inspection of this vehicle by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. 9. Any available ownership papers must be submitted. 10. A certified check or money order must be submitted made payable to the Motor Vehicle Division for the $50.00 Inspection Fee and the $18.00 Title fee. Upon the receipt of properly executed documents and fees, this office will issue a Replacement Serial Plate to be affixed to the vehicle before an inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. This office will then notify the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team to inspect this vehicle. If this vehicle paSRes their inspection, they will authorize the issuance of a Certificate of Title. This office will then issue and mail a Certificate of Title to the appropriate party. Note: Vehicles with flood/water damage shall be branded "Flood Damaged" Vehicles. 13 DUMEBUGGIES' ...., In order for a Georgia Certificate of Title to be issued for a homemade dunebuggy, the following documents must be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384: Vehicle shall not be painted until after it has passed an inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Section. 1. An MV-l title application must be completed in detail. This application must be typed in full and si~ned by the owner. 2. The Manufacturer's Statement of Ori~in, current' Certificate of Title or Registration Certificate (if title is not required) must be submitted either in the applicant's name or properlv assigned to the applicant. 3. The serial plate from the frame of the vehicle must be removed and submitted. If the serial number is cut into the frame and cannot be removed, a pencil tracing from the frame and a completed T-22B (Certification of Inspection) form must be submitted after a law enforcement officer has visually inspected the vehicle. A Georgia Assigned Serial Number Plate will be assi~ned to be affixed to the frame of the dunebuggy. 4. Signed parts bills of sale must be submitted (si~ned bv the seller) for all of the parts used to rebuild the vehicle. The parts bills of sale must indicate whether or not the part was "new" or "used" and they must be made out to the rebuilder. If the part was "used", the bill of sale must include the serial number of the vehicle from which the part was taken. If the part is "used", the Certificate of Title for the vehicle the part was taken from must be on file with the Motor Vehicle Division or submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division properlv assigned to the party who sold the part to the rebuilder. If the part was a "new" part, the bill of sale must show the stock number for this part. 5. A signed and notarized labor and parts certification (T-129) must be completed and submitted from the owner/rebuilder. 6. A T-22R form must be submitted requestin~ an inspection of this vehicle by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. 7. A certified check or monev order for $68.00 must be submitted made pavable to the Motor Vehicle Diviaion ($18.00 title fee and $50.00 inspection fee). NOTE: These types of vehicles will be classified as Homemade (for make) and the year model will be the vear finished (i.e. built in 1990 - year model 1990). 14 DUREBUGGIES - (Cont1D~ed) Upon receipt of these documents proper Iv executed and the required fees, this office will have the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team inspect this vehicle. A member of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team will then contact the applicant makin~ a physical inspection of this dunehu~~y to insure that it has been properly built in compliance with State Law. If the vehicle requires more than two inspections by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team, an additional $50.00 inspection fee will be charged for each inspection thereafter by this agency. When the inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspectiort:Team proves that the vehicle meets all State requirements, they will authorize the Motor Vehicle Division to issue a Certificate of Title in the applicant's name. 15 VEHICLES BUILT FROIlAtIT In order for a Georgia Certificate of Title to be issued for a vehicle built from a kit, the following documents must be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384. (NOTE: The vehicle should not be painted until after it has-passed an Inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Section.) 1. An MV-l title application must be completed in detail. This application must be typed in full and signed by thp. applicant. 2. The Manufacturer's Statement of Origin, current Certificate of Title or current Re~istration Certificate (if title is not required) must be submitted for the frame of this vehicle. This document must be issued in the applicant's name(s) or it must be properly assi~ned to the applicant(s). 3. The serial plate from the frame of this vehicle must be submitted to this office. If the serial number is cut into the frame and cannot be removed, a pencil tracing from the frame must be submitted along with a completed T-22B (Certification of Inspection) form after a law p.nforcement officer has made a visual inspection of this vehicle. 4. The Statement of Origin for the kit must be submitted properly assigned to the applicant(s). 5. A signed and notarized labor and parts certification form (T-129) must be submitted from the person who built this vehicle stating that they did the labor on this vehicle. 6. A T-22R form must be completed and submitted requestin~ an inspection of this vehicle by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. 7. Submit bill(s) of sale made out to the rebuilder, listing each part used in repairing the vehicle. These bill(s) of sale must indicate whether the part was new or used. The stock number or part number must be shown along with the part name, if the part is new. If the part is used, the serial number of the parts vehicle it was taken from must be shown. Each parts bill of sale must be signed with the full si~nature of the seller. 8. A Certified Check or Monev Order for $6R.00 must be submitted made pavable to the Georgia Motor Vehicle Division (!18.00 title fee and $50.00 for the inspection of the vehicle.) NOTE: The year model of this vehicle will be the vear that the vehicle was built. The make of this vehicle will be the trade name of the kit vehicle (i.e. Bradley GT, Gazelle, etc.). The model name of the vehicle will be the model shown on the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin for the kit (i.e. "Replica of a 1929 Mercedes Benz). The Motor Vehicle Division will iRsue an additional serial plate (in addition to the serial plate issued with the kit) showing the same vehicle identification number as shown on the serial plate issued with the kit to be placed on the frame. 16 VEHICLES BUILT FROM A":!K:IT - (Continued) The plate which is issued with the kit must be affixed to the left door post and the plate issued by the Motor Vehicle Division must be affixed to the frame. Upon receipt of all properly executed ownership papers and the required fees, the Motor Vehicle Division will forward all documents and the T-22R form requesting an inspection of this vehicle to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team for an inspection to he made. If more than two inspections are required, an additional $50.00 fee will be charged by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team for ~~ additional inspection reauired. If the inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team proves that the vehicle has been properlv rebuilt, they will authorize the Motor Vehicle Division to issue a Certificate of Title. Upon receipt of this authorization, a Certificate of Title will be issued and mailed to the applicant or security interest holder, if one is shown on the title application. NOTE: If any parts used to build this kit vehicle are taken from another vehicle, the title to that vehicle must be turned into this office or a letter of verification must be submitted from the state that is holding the title. 17 .. .." GLIDER KIT In order for a Georgia Certificate of Title to be issued for a vehicle remodeled from a glider kit*, the following documents must be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Division, Post Office Box 740384, Atlanta, Georgia 30374-0384: 1. An MV-I title application must be completed in detail, and submitted. This application must be typed in full and signed by the applicant. 2. The Statement of Origin for the Glider Kit must be submitted properly assi~ned to the applicant. The vehicle identification number on the Glider Kit will be the new identifving number under which the new title will be issued. 3. The current Certificate of Title, Statement of Origin or Registration Certificate from a non-title State must be submitted (in the applicant's name or proper Iv assigned to the applicant) for the wrecked unit. 4. The serial plate from the wrecked unit must be removed and submitted. 5. A labor and parts certification form (T-I29) must be submitted from the person who restored this vehicle. 6. A completed T-22R form must be submitted requesting an inspection of this vehicle by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team. 7. A certified check or money order for $68.00 must be submitted made payable to the Geor~ia Motor Vehicle Division (SI8.00 title fee and $50.00 for the inspection.) * A Glider Kit is a new cab and front axle used to replace a wrecked or retired cab and front axle. Upon receipt of the above documents properly executed, thi~ office will notifv the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team for an inspection of this vehicle. A member of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team will then contact the person named on the inspection request form, making a physical inspection of this vehicle to insure that it has been properly rebuilt in compliance with State Law. If the vehicle requires more than two inspections by the Motor Vehicle Inspection Team, an additional $50.00 fee will be charged for each inspection required thereafter. ---- 18 MOTOR VEHICl.E DIVISIOR IRSPECTIOR STATIORS The Motor Vehicle Inspection Section will notify the owner of the vehicle in re~ards to an inspection of the motor vehicle. Due to the time involved some people prefer to take their vehicle to an Motor Vehicle Inspection Station. The Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations are not "State" operated. These stations are privately owned and the owners of these stations charge a additional fee for use of their facilities. These Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations are located in Athens, Morganton, Fort Vallev, Cartersville, Savannah, and Gainesville. The inspectors are at an inspection station three times a week: Tuesdav, Wednesday and Thursdav. They rotate to the stations on a two week rotation basis. For example if they are at the Athens Station the first Tuesday of the month, thev will not be back at that station until the third Tuesday of the month. The times of these stations are 8:30 a.a. - 4:45 p.m. All vehicles to be inspected must be at the station before 2:00 p.m. or it .i1l not be inspected. All vehicles must be transported and not driven to the stations. Vehicles are inspected on a first-come, first-serve basis. Schedules are subiect to change (i.e. Holidavs, etc.) so we would su~gest that you call the inspection station involved to verify the dates befor~ you invest your time and transportation.
