INTERVENTION
Hepatitis B Immune Globulin (HBIG) AND Hepatitis B Vaccine Dose #1
Hepatitis B Vaccine Dose #2*
Hepatitis B Vaccine Dose #3
Post Vaccination Serologic Testing (PVT) (HBsAg and anti-HBs)
Blood for the PVT should not be drawn before 9 months of age AND must be drawn a minimum of 30 days after final hepatitis B vaccine.
*Low Birth Weight Infants (less than 4.4 lbs or 2,000 grams) should receive 4 doses of hepatitis B vaccine. The schedule for low birth weight infants is: HBIG & hepatitis B vaccine at birth, hepatitis B vaccine at 1 month, 2 months and 6 months.

Interpretation of PVT Results

Positive

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
(HBsAg)

Infected. Report to Public Health. No additional vaccine
needed.

Negative

Hepatitis B Surface Antibody
(anti-HBs)

Negative
Not Infected
Positive
Immune to hepatitis B

No Immunity
