Active Sweetpotato Weevil infesta-
tions have been found as a result of post

harvest surveys conducted by the En-
tomology Division of this Department.

The following procedures are strong-
ly recommended for areas of sweetpotato
production in the southern half of the
state due to the current serious situation.

1. IMMEDIATELY AFTER HAR-
VEST COLLECT AND DESTROY ALL
CROP RESIDUESTEMS, ROOTS, AND
CULL SWEETPOTATOES. SOME OF
THE UNINFESTED RESIDUE MAY BE

SAVED TO USE AS BAIT FOR ADULT +:

BEETLES.

2, PLACE THE BAIT MATERIAL
AT INTERVALS AROUND THE EDGES
OF THE FIELD, THEN APPLY A 2
PERCENT DIELDRIN DUST TO THE
GROUND IN A CIRCLE SURROUND-
ING THE BAIT. DO NOT APPLY DUST
TO THE BAIT. IN ABOUT 30 DAYS
COLLECT AND DESTROY THE BAIT.

8. PLOW THE FIELD ONCE OR
TWICE DURING THE WINTER. COL-

/ SWEETBOEATO PLANTS AS SOON sted with the Sweetpotato

-SIRABLE, APPLY DIELDRIN OR OTH- Georgia in prohibited.
