The. regulations, which are enforced
under Georgia food laws by the Depart-
ment of Agriculture, were issued some

_ time ago as a result of letters from tourists

complaining they had been gypped in
buying pecans in Georgia.

After the regulations were issued, rep-
resentatives of the Department visited
with people selling pecans along the high-
ways, requested their cooperation and at-
tempted to help them improve their pack-
aging and sale of pecans. Court injunc-
tions were obtained against those who
refused to cooperate.

As a result of the Departments efforts

complaints from tourists and others rela-
tive to pecans purchased in our state have
