FEEDER CATTLE SALES

More Georgia cattle producers should
be taking advantage of the strong demand
for feeder cattle. With good supplies of
grass roughage and grain in practically all
parts of the country, demand for replace-
ment stock, feeders and stockers should
continue to bid up the available supply of
calveswhich is down again this year for
the fourth consecutive year.

The four demonstration feeder cattle
sales can handle a lot more beef quality
calves to advantage. There is no danger
of getting more than the buyers will take
because larger members of cattle attract
more buyers which always helps prices.

Large members of feeder-stocker qual-
ity cattle are being sold through regular
sales that would bring more money if as-
sembled in uniform graded groups with
enough volume to attract good buyers. We
have buyers in the state who handle
twenty to forty thousand feeders a year.
They want to buy by the car load, not by
ones or twos as we force them to do in
Georgia.

It is time for the producer to look at
his marketing and attend one of these

Sales. He might also attend special feeder

sales like those held regularly at Albany,
where large numbers are assembled to
attract large buyers.

Contact your county agent for more
information on livestock marketing.

than the 1956 average price of 48.46. In

age was 51.51, in 1957 and this year.

In 1954, 139,925,534 pounds were sold.
