increased revenues. The economic ae
tion of the farmers of the State of Geor-
gia has not improved and the Commission _

once again agrees with the Commissioner
of Agriculture of the State of Georgia and

other protestants that no increase in tran- at
sportation costs should be imposed on the |
basie farming needs of fertilizer, soil con= :

ditioners and insecticides.

In its recent order on increased freight
rates the Public Service Commission re-
iterated its stand as reported in the Mar-
ket Bulletin of December 19, 1956 when

the Commission refused to grant increas-
ed freight rates on fertilizers, soil condi-
tioners and insecticides.

It is certainly gratifying to know that

members of the Georgia Public Service

Commission are mindful of the problems
our farmers face and are interested in as-.

sisting them in meeting these problems.
Certainly farmers themselves should ap-

preciate the interest members of the Com-

mission have shown in their welfare.
Members of the Public Service Com-

mission who have once again demonstrat-

ed their willingness to be of service to the

States agricultural economy include Matt |

L. McWhorter, chairman; Allen Chap-

pell, vice-chairman; Walter R. McDonald,

Crawford L. Pilcher and Ben T. Wiggins.
