The Soil Bank program is not some-
thing to jump into without a thorough in- |
vestigation of what it will mean as com-.
pared to what you have now. Whether or
not the Soil Bank program will fill your
needs. depends entirely on you and your

~ To help you arrive at a decision you
should consult your county agent and
your county office of the Agricultural
. Stabilization and Conservation Com-
mittee. -
Each farmer should read carefully the
restrictions imposed on his farm or his
| acreage to be placed in-the soil bank be-
fore signing to divert these acres as these
| restrictions may be greater than the farm-
cig would want to accept.
New Legislation Aids
Farmer Credit Needs
Recently enacted legislation will per-
mit the U. S. Department of Agricultures
Farmers Home Administration to serve
the credit needs of a larger number of
farm families, the U. S. Department of
Agriculture has announced.
The new law provides loans for refi-.
nancing existing debts, increases the max-
- imum. amount that can be advanced for
operating loans and, as a part of the Rural
Development Program, makes available
loans for operating and developing farms
where the farmer has part-time employ-
ment.
All of the present loan services of the
Farmers Home Administration which in-
clude loans for operation, development
and purchase of family-type farms, farm
housing soil and water conservation and
loans to meet emergency credit needs will
continue to be available.
The credit is primarily for family-type
farms, but will help other farmers meet
drought and other difficulties over which
farm families have no control.
~ Applications for the loans may be made
at the county offices of the Farmers Home
Administretion.
U.S.D.A. Announces
Tung Nuf Supports

has announced that prices to growers of
1956 crop tung nuts will be supported by
the Commodity Credit Corporation at

tent.
The equivalent price for tung oil is
21.0 cents per pound or 65 percent of pari.
ty as of November 1-(beginning of the
marketing year), whichever is higher.
These prices compare with a support. of
$51.06 per ton for tung nuts in 1955 and
a support of 20 cents per pound for tha
