Compared to what a President got 40

How do you compare the relative liv-

_The interest on public and private
debts is more today than the National
income was 40 years ago.
Corporation profits are twice as much

form of Social Security only is more than
the cost of the Federal Government 40

The very idea of trying to figure out
what a farmer gets on a basis of what he
received 40 years ago and then saying
that the farmer is the cause e of inflation

_ The articles we have carried on the
need for high quality food have attracted
a great deal of attention. Following are
two letters taken at random from the
_many we have received commenting:
Emmaus Pennsylvania
Mr. Tom Linder
Commissioner of Agriculture
- Atlanta, Georgia
Dear Mr. Linder:
3 I read your article on Food in the
J anuary 31st issue of the Market Bulletin
and we would very much like to reprint
it in our health magazine called Preven-
tion. May we? This is really a won-
derful article, especially coming from a
man who is the head of Agriculture of a
State.
I am enclosing, herewith, a bulletin of
our Soil and Health Foundation which
will show you the work of our Founda-
tion. I am wondering if we could make
a small grant to some agricultural insti-
tution in your State to experiment with
the Organic Method!
Sincerely yours,
J, I, RODALE
February 6, 1951
Hon. Tom Linder
Commissioner of Agriculture
Atlanta, Georgia
Dear Mr. Linder:
I have read and then read again what
you had to say about FOOD, appear-
ing in issue of Market Bulletin under date
of January 31. FOOD is a so much used
word, one would never stop to think of its
significance.
I just cannot command words to ex-_
press to you my appreciation for this
article. I shall file it with my many other
clippings.
As I read your article, I thought how
nice it would be if our President would
place the people of our Nation under his
vine and his fig tree, just as Solomon did,
as spoken of in First Kings (4:25).
What a peaceful scene that would be
for America. Every family a home
(farm) with smokehouse, garner, crib,
orchard, dairy, barn, fish pond, good
roads and, above all CHURCHES
WHERE GOD WAS WORSHIPPED.
Then we would not have wars.
Yours very truly,
T, Q. JONES,
Flowery Branch, Ga., Rt. 2
