No wonder they want to stop the
Market Bulletin. It is the only voice il

that will give these damning facts to

The record of legislation in n Washing-
ton reveals the handiwork of these in-

farmers on the Long Range Farm Pro-
gram submitted recently was against the
proposal.

A little bird told me that the vote
came out 85 per cent against and 15
per cent in favor of the proposai.

A few days before the first article in.
the Bulletin regarding this proposal of
Long Range Farm Pregram I mailed out
letters to a number of farmers getiing
them some of the inside story of the pro-
posal. In that letter I asked them ito
look for the next issue of the Farmers
Market Bulletin.

In sections where this letter went, I
understand the vote was about 90 per cent
against and 10 per cent in favor of the
proposal. This simply shows how essen-
tial it is for farmers to have infermaition..

to Presidents since Woodrow Wilson in-
stituted him as an adviser of and be-
yond the elected representatives of the
people in Washington. . Those of you
who have kept abreast of press reports
in the daily papers have seen from time _
to time how the advice of Bernard Ba-_
ruch is played up and the great weight
given to his advice by the National Ad-
ministration, both Republicans and
Democrats.
It must be remembered that the Unt-

lever outfit is only one of a large num-

ber of international trusts and cartels.

Most of these international trusts
and. cartels are doing in one way or
another just what Unilever is doing.

Tt is the enormous pressure of these
international business organizations ex-
erted on our National Legislature,
through the White House and other-
wise, that has passed such legislation
as Reciprocal Trade Agreements, the
Geneva Charter and other un-American
Acts.

It is these same international power-
ful influences that got up the idea of
the Marshall Plan and is -putting 1
over through the Secretary of State,
the President of the United States and
many Senators and Congressmen.

Elsewhere in this issue of the Bul-
letin is a news report on the Marshall
Plan and how the money of the Marsha%
Plan will be used by and for the bene-
fit of these international trusts and
eanesters and not to feed hungry peo-
ple in Hurope.
~ Talkine of the hungry people in
Europe is 75 per cent buncombe. It is
simply somethine to fool the people
and make them think they are feeding
hungry women and children. It is be-
ine propagandized through newspapers
and over the radios.

Tf you have listened to the radio com-
ments on the Marshall Plan, you must
have noticed that at least seyen-eights
of all time used on the radio has been
given to those who favor the plan and

FUND TO OPEN UP AFRICA

British Draw Up Vast ard Costly Projects.

LONDON, Feb. 21.British Socialists who regard Africa as
an unopened treasure chest are drawing vast and expensive
schemes to get at the richesas soon as Marshall plan funds
become available.

Prime Minister Attlee has sent out orders to find a way to
open up Africa. Stafford Cripps, minister of economic affairs,
talks of vast undertakings. Marquant, secretary of the
board for overseas trade and development, is making a _ trip
from Cairo to the Cape so the cabinet will have some first hand
information about the East African colonies on which Britain |
for years has spent an average of one penny per African per year.

East Africa is its undeveloped, sprawling, self today largely
because enormous amounis of capital must be sunk into any ac-
tivitv before it begins to yield any return.

But now, great British fortunes, forced out of England by
socialist seizure of the enterprises, are looking for new areas.
Then, too, the government is considering acting as godfather
to any colonizer, parliament having before it a proposal. that the
> treasury be allowed to provide up to 400 million dollars in loans
_or gifts to private or public developers.

The way British capitalists and the Socialist government are
teaming up is illustrated by the first big projecta scheme to
plant peanuts on 3.25 million acres of bushland. The cost is
estimated at 100 millions and after one year all estimates. of
costs are proving ridiculously optimistic. The peanut scheme
was conceived by Lever Brothers, soap and margarine makers
and one of the biggest private concerns in the world. It needs
fats but was unwilling to risk huge sums in creating the planta-
tions. It sold the idea to the Socialists who have commissioned
Lever Brothers to get on with the work and send all the bills
to the government treasury. :

POWER AND IRRIGATIONThree dams are planned
for fhe Zambesi river in Rhodesia, for Owen Falls in Uganda,
and for Lake Tsana in. Ethiopia. The Uganda and Ethiopian
dams would provide irrigation for great -stretches of new desert
land in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan.

- 2. STEELRhodesia has coal and iron in abundance, Miles
Thomas, vice chairman of the Nuffield organization, comparable
to Americas General Motors, declares the Rhodesian steel in-
dustry could be developed to. one of the foremost in the world.





- With government planning to: take over the British steel in-

dustry, the steel men are considering moving to Africa.

3. SUBSIDIARY RAW MATERIALSWhat are believed
to be the largest lead and diamond fields in the world are being
opened in western Tanganyika. Uganda is richerin timber.

4. FARMINGAn enormous -plateau, as big as most of
Europe; rising 5,000 feet to 8,000 feet, runs up and down Africa
through the eastern territories and although the land lies on the

tion crops can be grown the year round. The main difficulties
in putting it under efficient cultivation are provided by the in-
habitantshuman and insect. Forty million Africans have prior
rights to the land and they use it so badly they often starve.
Great areas are inhabited mainly -by the tsetse fly, a disease
carrier that keeps out humans more effectively than any Great
Wall. DDT and bulldozers may lick the fly.

5. MILITARYBritains new big empire base is being
built in Kenya. Storage facilities for 80 millions dollars worth
of military stores now scattered through the middle east and
India are being provided on the coast, near the town of Mom-
asa. . Headquarters for personnel are being planned inland,
near Nairobi, on the plateau.

To supply and serve the power industries, the coal and iron
industries, the obtainers of raw materials, the farmers and the
military will require thousands and thousands of minor projects

transporters, house builders, doctors and lawyers, teachers,
merchants and domestic servants.
Its in finance that the Marshall plan comes in. Although

the British government and rich Britons are willing to write
ehecks, those checks are strictly limited for home consumption.
They are largely worthless to any one seeking equipment in
America. Thus, the Marshall plan:is expected, to pay.

Nobody im London is willing to guess ,at? the amount of
Marshall plan money thatiis expected tox be diverted to building
an-empire:in: Africa; ; \Cripps .office, explained: that, all incoming
funds go into the treasury:.and' the more that treasury, has. sth
more checks it can honor. :

NBC, ABC, Mutual and Columbia
control about 95 per cent of the night
time broadcasting power In America.

Socialist Party leader who favors the
Marshall Plan was listed as opposing
it. His speech was, Why I Favor
the Marshall Plan. The: answer was
that he favored it because it would pro-
mote Socialism in Europe. A number |
of the other few who were listed as op-
posing the Marshall Plan like Senator
Taft and others are not actually oppos-
ing the Plan, but are simply advocating
a reduced amount of money to be spent.
So tremendous has been this propa-
ganda and so powerful is the influences
behind it, I notice that even some farm
organizations have endorsed it. The
leaders of such farm organizations are
either ignorant of the actual facts, or
they dare not tell the rank and file of
their members that they are supporting
a plan under which the American farm-_
