The old potato belt, from Maine to
Texas, was already producing ample
supplies of potatoes and this policy of

ments, Act, under whieh we have been
compelled "to import potatoes: from
across our borders. All of this has
been paid for with. the taxpayers dol-
_lars. The farmer as a whole, has not re-
_ ceived any. benefit from this
The farmers were already growing
a reasonable supply of potatoes and a
reasonable supply of sugar, but ee
not permitted to continue to do-

out of balance in order to give an in-
ternational monopoly control of the

a _ I noticed some days ago a bill in,
Congress to give Statehood to the Is-
land of Hawaii. The Island of Hawaii
te is largely the property of this inter-
- national sugar combine. The making of
Hawaii a State would simply have the
_effect of giving this international Sug-
ar Trust two representatives on the
floor of the United States Senate.
The Sugar Trust in Hawaii is- repre-
sented by five big companies, but an
investigation of these shows that their
_ personnel directorate are all assoeiated
in big New York houses. The names
