ode told. you sometime ago in the Bulletin that a neers
of otton mills had been required to convert from low-grade

ving ceiling prices for all of these goods they could
ake, but they: were not paying: the farmers 21.38 for
iddling 15-16 inch cotton at the farm, w hich was the price

: which the mill ceilings were based.

On every bale of cotton that the farmers have sol
since that time, the farmer has been forced to take a loss
simply because the government refused to treat the farm-
in the same way that the mills were treated.

. You will note from reading Section Two that the gov-
ernment 1 now proposes to force part of the farmers cotton
that is in the government loan on the market to meet cur-

rent requirements. |

This is simply another way of saying what I told you
in the Bulletin sometime ago that there was not enough
high-grade eotton to run the mills until the 1943 crop can
: be harvested. |

a T am informed that some mills are now being forced
to onvert to low-grade cotton at a loss of time aad money,

Shortage of Protein Feed

a There i is a terrible shortage of protein feed. This short-
age is due to erop raduetion in this country and to the
cutting off of imports from other countries, Tt is also due
t the cutting of corn and other grain crops in this country

NOTICE TO ADVERTISERS

I am in receipt of a number of letters from
people who have placed orders for seed, plants
and produce carried for sale in The "Market
Bulletin. Some of these letters inclose letters
which were returned to them unopened and
unclaimed. :

I realize that on account of extreme bad
weather and the tremendous demand this year
for food crops of all kinds that those who carry
notices of for sale in The Market Bulletin may
receive more orders than they can fill.

It is absolutely necessary that each order
received be acknowledged together. with an eXx-
planation why the order is not filled if it is im-
possible to fill the order.

Those who place orders for plants, seed, or
produce, carried for sale in the Bulletin must
realize that the demand is greater than the sup-
ply. They are however entitled to receive a
prompt reply toall orders placed.

It is highly important that those using the
columns of The Market Bulletin, both buyers
and sellers, remember that conditions are now.
abnormal.
