: In Formulating Farm Program

There is a tier of counties in South Georgia
here no increase in the cotton crop is needed. These
counties can easily increase their production of pea-
uts, hogs, potatoes, sugar cane and other staple food

Shortage of Farm Labor and Staple Crops

On farms that produce staple crops there is a
onger period in which these crops can be harvested

thout loss. You are not forced to harvest corn,
otton and other staple crops at any given date. The

ather they must be gathered or they will be lost.

It is not necessary to process corn, wheat, pea-
uts or other staple crops within any given period.

ee Long and Short Staple Cotton

The order of the Secretary of Agriculture for all

war will be determined by our success in solving the

ultural problems in the forty-eight states that can-

help and advice of people in the different sections.
It seems to me that the Secretary of Agriculture
should ask the Commissioners of Agriculture of the
several states to constitute an advisory board to as-
sist the Secretary of Agriculture in handling these
many problems in the many states.

In number of counsellors there is safety.

On the whole the Commissioners of Agriculture
of the various states know the problems of agricul-,
ture in their respective states better than anyone else.

Based on results at the Georgia Coastal Plain
Experiment Station a practical ee of grazing or
