Last week I appeared before the Banking and Currency
Committee of Congress to oppose giving to one man the arbi-
y power to fix prices on farm products.

The Committee has been holding hearings for the last Ha
2onths.

ers of Agriculture and other agricultural leaders- from thirty:

It was agreed at this meeting that the basie troubles of the

cotton farmer are the same as the basic troubles of the wheat
farmer, the cattle grower, corn grower, hog grower, the pro.
ducers of dairy products and the producers of all other basie
farm products. .
- The meeting adopted the following resolution:

(1) We oppose any price-fixing or price-ceiling
legislation with respect to agricultural commodities
that does not simultaneously control prices of indus-
