' WEEVIL DESTRUCTION

~a bale to the acre, ee five bales on seven

acres.
Be this as it may, we edo that the boll weevil

is here in force and is going into hibernation on our

farms, all teady to start out. bright and early next _

spring and ruin next years crop unless something
is done about it.

Now we do know that if the old Halk are cut
up with a stalk cutter and turned under, most of
these! old weevils will be destroyed so you wont
have to contend with them next year. If you do
not have a stalk cutter, and comparatively few
farmers have, you can rip up those stalks with a
middle burster or sharp scooter and Johnson wings,

drag them down with a log drag and then turn

them under or rake them off and burn them. If
you do this, half your battle is won. Then next
Spring get your merchant or ginner to order you
some black strap molasses, mix this_ with calcium
arsenate and mop your cotton. This is the cheap-
est and most practical way of controlling the boll

INSPECTION SERVICE HELPFUL

We are pleased to note the excellent work be=
ing done by the Food and Drug Division of our

State Department of Agriculture, also the Fertilizer 4

Division. Commissioner Columbus Roberts has
directed that a page of the Market Bulletin, each
issue, be devoted to a publication of the results _
shown by an analysis of the samples of foods, feeds, t
drugs and chemicals taken over the state. Mr.
Roberts wants the people of Georgia to lkwaow what ~
foods and feeds are pure and within the law and
what are not.

This is: not only a help to the consumer, but ag

also to the manufacturer, who makes good stuff, :
/the merchant who handles it and the farmer who
grows the foods. =a
