weeks ago but the ual is good. Standard loose
pack crates of greens sold today from 65c to 75c for
good quality and around 55c to 60c on fair size and
quality. Movement of tomatoes from this county
will be heaviest next week.

Fordhook beans as well as baby limas have
been slightly stronger this week than last and we.
expect a good supply next week. Peas have been
moving fairly well at around 2c on good crowders.

The market has been flooded with green can-
taloupes everywhere but next weeks supply from
this territory will be mature and of good quality.
Watermelons have just begun to move and by the
time this letter is published we will be loading
trucks daily with Stone, Mountain and Cuban Queen
varieties. These two kinds are planted extensively
in this territory for the trucker. .

Irish Potatoes are getting scarce as most farm-
ers -have already sold what they do not intend to
keep until fall.

T believe the acreage of sweet potatoes in this
cotihty, especially has been increased. Farmers are
finding that they can realize a profit on sweet po-
_tatoes and that they are a crop which does not re-
quire excessive production costs, and that they have
an enormous salvage value for hog-feed.

GLENNVILLE AND CLAXTON
MARKETS

Our markets are now in full operation with
heavy daily movements of produce selling at fair
prices. Tomatoes and cucumbers being our main
products on these markets at the time this article
is written and are selling in large Genny and in
good demand.

We have sold a few cantaloupes on the Glenn-
ville market this week and they were of fine quali< _
ty and brought a good price, we anticipate heavy
movements of cantaloupes and watermelons on
both markets, beginning around the 15th or 20th of
this month. The supply of squash, snap beans, Irish
potatoes, butter beans, and onions are about gone
in the vicinity of these markets but we still have a
supply of good corn and green peas on hand which
is moving in good demand. The fine weather condi-
tions which this section has enjoyed for the past
thirty days has helped the quality of produce in
this section to a great extent as well as the crops
in general. fe

It is our dese to be of every possible assist-
ance to the farmers of this section, so let us suggest
that when you gather your produce please be care=
ful and leave your cull and low grade stuff in the ~
field or feed to your hogs as it will damage the sale
of your good quality. 5

The growers and buyers are cordially invited
to. visit our daily auction sales and offer sugges-
tions.

to supply the demand. Cantaloupes and melons are eink
offered on our market from the South Georgia counties and.
the. quality of both seem better than the beginning of. Jast
Some of the cantaloupes are being gathered too
oon and the flavor is not- up to standard and will not be
until they are allowed to remain on the vines longer.
Both melons and cantaloupes are from 10 to 15 days
earlier than last season and we expect truck shipments from
our market to'begin within 15 days in large volume. We are
already having inquiries from truckers from distant states
as to about the time both melons and cantaloupes will be
moving from our market and we expect to handle quite a
ocd many more than last season. ;
oy With the opening of our new retail market on the first
of July, the increased demand for truck loads and with our
improved grounds for the loading of melons we should be
able to handle much more business this season than last.
~All melon shippers should bear in mind the regulations
with reference to the inspection requirements. of all melons |
~ moving from Georgia to other states either by truck, rail, or
boat that will remain in effect until 1 oclock A. M. June
26th, 1938. We have been advised that we will have all the -
, inspectors necessary to- supervise the loading of trucks on
