_. nal planting. It grows very much like potato vines, wherever

comes a mat of roots all over the surface of the ground.

This Kudzu makes an excels quality of hay, being higher
An protein than alfalfa. You can cut it two or three times a
-_ year, depending upon the seasons. Its main advantage eomes
_ from the mat of roots that form by the vines taking root when-

ever: they touch the ground. It also kills out any 0 other grass
or weeds that might be growing on the land.

it to ees If you do not wish to cut this 4er hay it makes
a fine pasturage for cattle. .

Mr, Cooper of the Trion Waris, of Peters Chatiedae County,
was in the office to see me this week. He has 120 acres planted
to Kudzu. He also has some land planted in alfalfa and other
kinds of hay. He thinks more of the Kudzu than any legume

that he plants on account of the wonderful value of the mat-
- ted roots that will stop the washing of the rolling land.

It might be well for some of our land owners who have large |}
acreages: of rolling land in middle Georgia to look inte this {|
matter and plant Kudzu. It will level your land, stop washing, ~
make it more fertile, and at the same time make. an excellent

pasture for cattle. The middle part of Georgia is in the dairy
business on a pretty extensive scale, No dairyman ean afford

to buy his feed shipped from some other State to feed his ecat- :

tle. The f: rst. point is to figure to make your feed. right at your
barn.
