- For about three or four years after the war was over cows
sold anywhere from 2 1-2 to 3 1-2 cents per potind on foot.
_ This fall we have seen the price go back to from 5 to 8 cents
per pound for native Georgia eattle on foot. Whenever you
ean get this price-for cows there is money in raising a yearling
that you can make we gh five or six hundred pounds at a year
_ old. When it reaches this weight sell it. Try to get youa stock

of cattle that weighs this at about one year old. It is very

easy to breed up to this weight with Aberdeen Angus, Here-

ford, or Red Pol', and have ealves that will weigh five or six
hundred pounds at a year old. This is the profitable age to sell
eattle, and beef generally brings the best. price at this age and
size, because it is classed baby beef. ees

The Ea of pai Hogs : :

Dont sell all the cows now because they

are bringing. a-

pretty good price, Keep enough on your farm to destroy the>

waste of your fields and lot, raising a few yearlings each year
and have what you do raise good and fat. Sell them around a
year o'd and you w_ll make a little money from this source.
Just remember that the present price of hogs is not going to
continue. Dont give away those good old sows because they
have not been making

sresent market this spring you may miss them next fail. Re-
ward and forward. :

FEBRUARY SALES MADE
THROUGH THE BUREAU
OF MARKETS.

All records for one months sales
were broken during February by the
Market Bureau of the State Depart-
ment of Agriculture when 195 1-2 car
loads of farm~ products, which
brought $170,141.50, were sold
through the Bureau.

The products included 94 cars of
hogs. $99,845.83; 43 cars of corn,
$18,441.23; 24 cars potatoes, $9,613.-
62; 13 cars of hay, $2,922.20; 10

cars of poultry, $26,212.42; 5:
ears of cattle, $9,798.45; 3 cars
of velvet beans, $9, 798.455 3

ears of velvet beans, $725.00: 2 cars
of peas, $1,455.00; 1 1-2 cars of soy
beans. $754.00; eggs, $150.00; syr p
$13.75; sheep, $100.00; Total 195 1-2
cars, which brought $170,141.50.: -

The amounts received for the Feb-
ruary sales almost doubled the Jan-
uary sales when $99,358.52 - were
paid for 120 car loads of products
sold through the Market Bureau.

Hogs led in products sold during
January, with corn second and- pox
batoes third. :

The sales are the result of the
plan of diversification now practiced
by Georgia farmers and by the ac-
tivity of the Market. Bureau in aid-
ing the farmer to find a market for
his product.

These sales were made directly by
the Market Bureau and a record
kept. It is pointed out that numerous
sales made as the result of ads
printed in the Market Bulletin, of
which no reports are made, amounted
to thousands of dollars more. This
would swell the total sales for the
month,

The Bureau of Markets is proud
of the fact that the Georgia Market
Bulletin is the largest free advertis-
ing medium in the United States. It
also has the greatest circulation .of
any publication of its kind.

A. D. Jones, Director.
