Dr. George Miller, III - Officiating
BERTHA M. WASHINGTON went home to be with the Lord on
Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was born July 23, 1920, in Appling,
Georgia to the late George and Mamie Hogan Washington.
At an early age, she accepted the Lord as her Savior and was a faithful
member of Elim Baptist Church, where she sang in the Sanctuary
Choir and was recognized as their oldest member.
She was educated at Haines Normal Institute, Paine College, and
Fort Valley State University. She was an educators educator and
taught many generations for forty'three years in the Richmond
County School System.
To cherish her memory are: nieces, Barbara Washington and Janie
Washington; nephew, Thomas (Annette); greaGnieces, Chandra
Jacobs and Andrea Washington; greaGnephew, Stanley Jacobs;
sisterTmlaw, Amanda Washington; greaGnieces, Latempestt Jacobs,
Briyonna Jacobs and Khamari Matthews; godson, Corey Bowdre;
goddaughter, Voltrina Williams; and a host of cousins, friends,
neighbors, and former students.
