Dont grieve for me, for now Im free.
I M FOLLOWING THE PATH GOD LAID FOR ME.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I TURNED MY BACK AND LEFT IT ALL.
I COULD NOT STAY ANOTHER DAY,
TO LAUGH, TO LOVE, TO WORK OR PLAY.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
THEN FILL IT WITH REMEMBERED JOY.
A FRIENDSHIP SHARED, A LAUGH, A KISS;
OH YES, THESE THINGS, I TOO WILL MISS.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I WISH YOU THE SUNSHINE OF TOMORROW.
My lifes been full, I savored much;
GOOD FRIENDS, GOOD TIMES, A LOVED ONES TOUCH.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
dont lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
0W (Sffca/th,
It is with deepest appreciation that we acknowledge your kindness,
thoughtfulness, and service extended to us during our time of
bereavement. It was your strength in which we were able to cling,
and your prayers which helped us to endure. May God bless each of
you. You will always be in our prayers. - The Family

Death came quietly on Friday, February 12, 2016, when God
Almighty in His wise providence called from labor here on earth to
an everlasting home the soul, of RAY ANTHONY WARREN.
There are three steps to Heaven: out of self, into Christ and into Glory.
He was born in Richmond County on May 30, 1957, to the late Mr.
Columbus Washington, Jr. and Ms. Alberta Jones. Ray accepted
the Lord as his Savior at an early age and joined the Bethel A.M.E.
Church here in Augusta, Georgia.
Rays elementary education began at Immaculate Conception
Academy, Augusta, Georgia, attended Aquinas High School, but
graduated from Lucy C. Laney with the Class of 1976. He also
graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Center Augusta
Regional Police Academy as a Certified Peace Officer.
He worked for the Augusta Police Department and Richmond
County Sheriffs Office from 1978 until his retirement, he worked
in the CID Department, he was also a Narcotics Investigator in the
Detective Division, special duty for the United States Marshalls
Office, and a Field Training Officer for the APD. Ray received quite a
few accommodations in his law enforcement career.
Ray was known throughout the community as Blind Man Ray and
Baby Ray, due to his expertise in all types of music. He was a D.J. at
numerous clubs, family reunions, weddings, and many other events.
His last event was the R. A. Dent Elks Lodge and Temple, the Oldest
Dance.
Rays favorite musicians were B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Muddy Waters,
and Johnnie Taylor just to name a few, but he danced only to the tune
of Chuck Rock. Beyond his music career, Ray loved the Lord and
had a heart of gold for all people. Rays passion was cooking, it was
overwhelming for him to see others enjoying themselves.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Ms. Alberta Jones of
Augusta, GA; loving wife, Calla Warren of Augusta, GA; mother-in-
law, Ms. Willie Mae Moore of Augusta, GA; six children, Latosha Neal
of Lexington, SC, Tajuana Jones of Augusta, GA, Alvin Lee of Atlanta,
GA, Tiffany Warren-Powell of Augusta, GA, Jabere Washington of
Augusta, GA and Dorian Merriweather of Augusta, GA; sister, Cathy
Morris of California; extended children, Tarteria Benning and Floyd
Ellison, both of Augusta, Georgia; a host of eighteen grandchildren
between he and his wife; three aunts, Jeanette Wade of Augusta, GA,
Barbara Utley of Washington, DC and Betty Allen of Burlington, NJ;
great aunt, Elizabeth Hudson; great uncle, Clifford Porter, both of
Augusta, GA; two sisters-in-law, Claudia (Andrew) Hacker and Cora
Moore of Augusta, GA; brother-in-law, Albert (Naomi) Moore of
Appling, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many, many friends,
and his beloved dog, Noodles Maurice Warren.

My husband, my confidant, my best friend
I PROMISED TO LOVE YOU UNTIL THE END
YOU ARE OUT OF MY SIGHT, BUT SO MUCH IN MY HEART
That even your death will not keep us apart
You ARE WITH ME RIGHT NOW AS I CONTINUE MY LIFE
You STILL WATCH OVER ME,
And I AM STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR LOVING WIFE.
Youre in my heart, youre in my soul
But now apart, no hand to hold
I wont forget the love you gave
I STILL CAN FEEL IT TO THIS DAY
I STAND WITHOUT YOU BY MY SIDE
But now youre watching me from on high
We will meet again for this Im sure,
Because our love will last and endure.

YOU SLIPPED AWAY FROM ME
I WILL LOVE AND MISS YOUR PRECIOUS FACE
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART
God needed another angel, so he sent an angel to get you
I CAN SEE YOU SMILING AND FLYING ALL AROUND HEAVEN
YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
-MOM-
GoD SAW YOU WERE GETTING TIRED, AND A CURE WAS NOT TO BE,
SO He PUT HIS ARMS AROUND YOU,
AND WHISPERED, COME TO ME.
With tearful eyes I watched you, and saw you pass away,
And though I loved you dearly, I could not make you stay.
A GOLDEN HEART STOPPED BEATING,
HARD WORKING HANDS WERE BROUGHT TO REST.
God broke my heart to prove to me,
He only takes the best.
