employees but safe as well. Charles worked diligently and tirelessly at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center for 36 years, retiring

in 2009. Charles received numerous meritorious, performance and service awards from the US Army, Army National Guard and

ATIME TO LOVE AND A TIME TO LAUGH: While focusing on his work in ministry, position at the VA and the care for his young see

children, in 1985, Charles met the love of his life, Alvester Young and her two children. Now according to `Ves', as heaffectionately

called her, Charles and she would remain friends. However, Charles had something else in mind. This began a love affair between

__ two best friends which continued into marriage in 1986. Their fire and love for one another lasted for over 31 years until Charles

entered into rest. Charles and Ves also shared a love of family and friends. They would always help those in need whether providing

food and shelter, financial needs and/or verbal advice for life's circumstances. Charles was a genuine, even-tempered man, fulolf

_ love, compassion and wisdom and always willing to listen. His Godly character would often invite others to approach him with

various difficult situations. Charles wasa pillar of hiscommunity and a fine example of how aChristian man and father should lead

his life. His illness did not hinder his passion and adoration for helping others. Even still, whilhee was a resident at the University
