Celebration of Life
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A
time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that
which is planted. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:J-2
A Time To Be Born . . .
On November 4, 1928, to the union of the late Thomas, Sr. and Lillian
Louise Hicks Green, the eldest daughter was born, Elizabeth Louise Green
Swint, in Augusta, Georgia.
A Time To Learn . . .
She attended Silas X. Floyd Elementary School, Doughtery Elementary
School, and A.R. Johnson Senior High School.
A Time To Serve ...
Elizabeth was baptized at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Au-
gusta, Georgia where she sang on the Senior Choir. For many years, she
served on the Deaconess Board, was President of the Senior Missionary Soci-
ety and other church ministries.
In 1989, she later joined the fellowship of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
She remained active as a member of the Senior Choir, Senior Mission, and
the F.F. Cook Memorial Choir. She also served as Treasurer of the H&R
Missionary Circle and a member of the First Shiloh Association.
While working in the vineyard, her love for people inspired her to work for
several businesses as a shoe saleswoman in the CSRA.
A Time To Love . . .
Elizabeth and the late John W. (J.W.) Swint, Sr. spent fifty-nine years of
wedded bliss. The years they shared together bore witness to the dedication
of the love they had for each other. They were blessed with two children,
John, Jr. and Gloria who preceded her in death.
A Time To Die . . .
On Friday, April 29, 2005, Elizabeth made the transition from this life into
the presence of Gods domain. She leaves memories that will forever be
cherished in the hearts of her loved ones: a loving brother, Thomas (Marga-
ret) Green, Jr., Washington, DC; one aunt, Mary Black, Augusta, GA; four
sisters-in-law, Lizzie Pryor, Gladys Swain, Vennie Mae Gibson, and Louise
(Herman) Fuller, all of Augusta, GA; two grandchildren, Gregory Hammonds
and Dexter Hammonds, both of Augusta, GA; four great-grandchildren; de-
voted childhood cousins, Edward Moss, Palo Alto, CA and Patricia Carey,
Washington, DC; devoted goddaughter, La Jean B. Johnson, Augusta, GA;
devoted friends, Vemice H. Stokes, Vera Davis, Charlie Mae Slaughter, and
Lizzie Neely, all of Augusta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren,

Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair, perhaps you sent a
floral piece, if so we saw it there. Perhaps you made a benevolent contribu-
tion, if so we appreciate you. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words any friend
could say, perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day; what-
ever you did to console our hearts we thank you so much ... Whatever your
part. Again, we thank you.
