Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2526 Lumpkin Road | Augusta, Georgia, Reverend Chavis Boyd | Pastor/Presiding, Reverend James White | Officiating, Pastor of New Ford Baptist Church, Tignall, Georgia.

BERTHA JACKSON SINGLETON, was born on September 22, 1930, to the late Kendrick and Rosa Harper Jackson, Sr. in Danburg (Wilkes County), Georgia. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 28,
2007,
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and was baptized at New Ford Baptist Church in Danburg, Georgia, where she served faithfully on the Trustee Ministry and the Choir, founded and chaired New Ford's Family and Friends Day Fundraising Program, and was even given the honor of the Mother of the Church, even after moving to Augusta, Georgia.
She continued her spiritual and Christian journey by uniting with Cumming Grove Baptist Church, serving on the Mothers' Board, the Senior Mission, as President of the Deaconess Board, Cumming Grove Chorus, and Directress of the Roy Elam Singers. She continued to serve faithfully in several capacities at both churches until her health no longer allowed her.
Her early education was received in Wilkes County
schools. She worked for many years as a Food Service Provider for the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Bertha was honored with several awards, recognition, and accolades for her outstanding contribution and service to the church and the community.
To celebrate and cherish the memories of her life, she leaves: a devoted husband, Deacon Sam Singleton; three daughters, Betty Harrison, Rosemary (Jason) Beard, and Brenda Singleton, all of Augusta, Georgia; four sons, Isaiah Barksdale, Kenneth Barksdale, David Singleton, all of Augusta, Georgia, and Michael Singleton of Auburn, Kentucky; son-in-law, Joe Johnson; daughterin-law, Josie Barksdale; one sister-in-law, Willie Ann Jackson; twenty-four grandchildren; many loving greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Iam home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peaceforever, Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me Inthat way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still
Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waitingfor you, So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth =You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, thejoy to see you'come!
