The Hituay
Mrs. Carolyn Hunter Simon, a devout Christian, a devoted wife, _a loving mother, and a dedicated educator, was born August 25,
1949, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late James and Rosanna Nealous Hunter. She went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the proud age of 71.
Willie Marion Simon, her husband of forty-six years, who she simply called "Simon", passed away on October 3, 2015. Her sister, Shirley Ann Hunter, and brother, Lendell Hunter, also preceded her in death.
At an early age, Carolyn accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Pierce Grove Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. Her love and devotion to Christ and her church were marked by years of dedicated service. She was the church Secretary, Clerk, and a Sunday School teacher for many years, as well as being a member of the Pierce Grove Inspirational Choir and Augusta Black Festival Choir. Carolyn loved singing and making a joyful noise unto the Lord.
She was a 1967 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School, a 1971 graduate of Paine College, and she received her Master's Degree from Lesley University in 2004. Her entire educational career was with the Richmond County School System, as a Special Education Teacher. It takes a special someone to teach someone special and that was Carolyn. She retired after thirty-five years of service.
Carolyn was a strong woman witha loving and giving heart who loved the Lord. She was always willing to share and help others. Her strong faith in God led her to unconditionally love her family, friends, and acquaintances. As a testimony of her caring attitude, she started her conversations with "Hey Baby" and ended with "I love you."
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Kimberly Simon, Tiffany Myers (George) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Marian Simon; three sons, Willie James Simon (JaVincia), Jamal Simon (Sheena) of Lexington, SC, and Jerren Simon; one sister, Cynthia Henley (Reverend Aldean) of Piedmont, SC; one brother, James Hunter (Sherri) of Fontana, CA; sixteen grandchildren, Nashera Stone, Britiney Stone, Kambria Haggins, George Myers, Jr., Javin Myers, Dre'Shon Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Marquis Frazier, Malachi Louis, Marion Simon, Jamia Simon, Zaria Scarborough, Za'Niyah Simon, JaMarion Simon, Jamal Simon, Jr., and MaKajah Simon; five great-grandchildren, Antawain Williams, Jr., George Myers, III, Braylon Freeman, Avaria Lee, and Amelah Lee; two aunts, Gladys Sanders of Sanford, NC, and Ida Mae Hunter; two brothers-in-law, Reverend Aldean Henley, and Daniel Simon; four sisters-in-law, Sherri Hunter, Mildred Wilkes, Lessie Simon, and Mary Bright; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Our VV other
Although we cannot hear her voice, Or see her smile anymore,
Our mother walks beside us still, Just as she did before.
She'll listen to our stories, And wipe away our tears; She'll wrap her arms around us, And understand ourfears.
It's just she isn't visible, To see with the human eye, But talk to her in silence, And her spirit will reply. We'llfeel the love she hasfor us_ We'll hear her in our hearts; She's left her human body, But our souls will never part.
If we were to tell mamas story through songs, we would choose the two that she sang to us as kids...Somebody Bigger than you and I...yes, He's that Kind of Friend! Then we would continue with the songs she led in the choir: Christ is All and I Declare your Glory in this Place, see, I've been runningfor Jesus a Long Time, and I'm not tired yet, because My Lord's Getting Us Readyfor That Great Day and I Got It, the Holy Ghost Power. Yes, children, I Have My Mansion Now and to those I have left behind, What will you be Doing When Jesus Comes?
Her last week here on earth, she constantly sang, "Jesus will hear you pray, Jesus will hear you pray, if you trust and only obey, Jesus will hear you pray" and "I will trust in the Lord until I die."
