July 22nd 1926 - July 14th, 2017
Emma Mae Coward Quillens, age 90, departed this realm on Friday, July
14,2017. She was bom to the late Mr. Theo and Lorretta Coward.
She was educated by the Florence County school system.
At an early age, she confessed her devotion to Chnst and joined Weslsey
Methodist Church, and after marriage became a member of New Ebenezer
Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board Her favonte
scriptures were the 91st and 23rd Psalms. She always urged her children
grand and great grands to attend church regularly. As her health declined
she was unable to partake in church activities. She was a devoted wife,
mother, and grandmother, Emma was extremely family oriented and was
devoted to those whom she loved dearly.
Many would agree that Emma served as the community's mother. Her
house was always open to her neighbors, friends, and family as a shelter for
love, peace, and a good conversation.
Emma breathed life into anyone she came into contact with. Her house was
never empty, she was always in the company of those that needed a
listening ear, and maybe even an encouraging word. She played an integral
role in the upbringing of her grand and great grand children. As time went
on Emma's health declined.
She was united in marriage to Hosea B. Quillens Sr. for 73 years. They
were blessed with a daughter and son. She is survived by her husband
Hosea Quillens, Sr. two children Dr. Margarie (Willie Edward Sr.) Jarmon of
Augusta, GA and Hosea, Jr.(Annie Ruth) Quillens, and one brother in law
Mr. Samuel Quillens. Four grandchildren; Staff SgL Retired Dwayne
(Virginia) Quillens, Mrs. Wilicia (Antwon) Morris, Ms. Deidra Jarmon, Willie
Edward Jarmon Jr., Ms. Konieka Davis, and 12 great grands, with a host of
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
