BERNARD MORGAN was born on March 24, 1934 in Columbia,
South Carolina to the late Mary Williams Morgan. Bernard entered

He was united in holy matrimony to Ella Allen on November 21,

of marriage.
Bernard grew up in Augusta and attended Immaculate Conception
Academy in grade school. He furthered his education at South
Carolina State College, where he earned bachelor and master degrees.
After graduation from his beloved alma mater, Bernard began his
career as an educator with the Richmond County Board of Education.
He taught at A.R. Johnson, Lucy Craft Laney, and ultimately at T.W.
Josey High School. In addition to his efforts to increase the knowledge
base of numerous young minds, he was also affectionately known
as Coach Morgan. Bernard coached baseball, football, track, and
tennis; however, he is best known for coaching basketball. His 1987
team won the GSHA State Championship and he was also selected as
the Coach of the Year for the schools classification.
Bernard was considered an honorary member of Springfield Baptist
Church, where he attended until his health no longer allowed him.
He was also an extremely active member of his fraternity, Kappa
Alpha Psi.

and his fraternity brothers selected him Kappa Man of the Year on

(Angela) Morgan. He also leaves to cherish his memory seven

and friends.
Don t grieve for me, for now Im free
Im following the path God has laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my hack and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found peace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joys
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My lifes been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Dont lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me
God wanted me NOW, He has set me free.
