To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven. -Ecclesiastes 3:1
William Lewis Boss McCauley was born on October 11, 1943 as the eldest son of the late
Moses McCauley, Sr. and Irene Williams McCauley. William was industrious, creative and earned the
name Boss at an early age due to his leadership skills.
A Time To Educate:
William was educated in the local area at the Lucy Laney High School in 1961. He attended for
a short period the University School of Nursing (Lamar Division) Paine College, and Augusta Technical
School. He completed his training in Electrical Construction - for a career as an electrician.
A Time to Love:
William met his beloved wife in high school and later married in July 1967. Their friendship
started fifty-four years ago. They were married for forty-six years.
A Time to Work:
William worked untiringly. He worked in the sixties at University Hospital in nursing service,
the Kendall Company as an electrician, and Savannah River Site. He later joined Plant Vogtle and
Augusta YDCU until retirement.
A Time to Give Service:
William was a very unselfish person and served in the community as president of the Belair
Hill Association (85-87). He was a Christian man who joined the Thankful Baptist Church in 1953.
At the church he served in many capacities such as an Usher, Superintendent of Sunday School, and
the Deacon and Trustee Ministries. He installed the first public announcement system and installed
lights in the parking lot. He was a part of the Transportation Ministry, organized the Laymen Ministry,
served on the Overseer Board for New ERA Convention and was instrumental in the obtainment of
the historical marker for Thankful Baptist Church in 2011. He was also a member of M. W. Prince
Hall Grand Lodge 1 or 7. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers
Union #1579, and a dedicated member of Bible Study Fellowship Mens Group at Warren Road Baptist
Church.

Deacons and Trustees of Thankful Baptist Church
One sweetly solemn thought comes to me over and over
I am nearer home today than I have ever been before.
Nearer my Father's house where there are many mansions,
Nearer the giant white throne, nearer the crystal sea.
Nearer the bounds of life where we lay our burdens down.
But lying darkly between winding down thru the night,
is the silent unknown stream that leads at last to the light.
Father, let my spirit feelfree upon the rock of faith.
