CHARLES MARSHALL was born March <S, ]9-18 in North Augusta, N( !.
i lis musical career began at Jelierson I ligh school placing the horn in the
band. 1 iowever, what main- people didnt know is that (diaries could not
sight read. All the music he played was by ear. Ihe ironv in this is that
playing music by ear is a gitt that lew people have. Lvenluallv, Charles'
band leader discovered this about him and kicked him out ol the band.
Ihe band leader was appalled that (diaries would attempt to make it as a
musician without being able to read a note ol music.
Ihe lollowing Near this particular band leader retired. In his place, was
hired a man who delighted in (diaries talents ami patiently taught him
to read music. It was with this guidance that (diaries began to write,
compose and arrange music on his own.
Alter high school, (diaries went on to Paine College in Augusta, CA to
study music and psychology. It was during tins time that (diaries had
the opportunity to move to Boston, MA and become leader of an RNB
Band called the Untouchables. Prom Boston, ( diaries journeyed to New
Auk. It was while in New dork that lie met ( hico Mendoza, a renowned
Latin iazz artist, and was oflered a job to play the Baritone Saxophone
with the group Oclio". Charles would spend two years with the group
during which two albums were recorded with United Artist Oclio 1 and
Ocho II. I lis musical "chops allowed him to play with musical groups
such as Sam N Pave and Ben k. King, llis prolessional performances
j included places such as Lionel I lampions |azz (dub in Paris, Prance and
j the famous Piedmont Jazz Pesti\al in Atlanta, (,A just to name a lew.
Moie lecently, (diaries was able to record two albums ol his own tilled
A I leartbeat Away and Musalir: Ihe Traveller.

It was also while in New dork, that (diaries passion tor music education
flourished, lie worked in the Past Harlem area with children ranging
in age Irom a to 12 years old. Charles designed educational activities
centered around music with the goal ol reaching as mam voting students
as possible. As (diaries saw it. music is like the air we breathe. We take il in
without really appreciating its essential value. 1 he same applied to music
lor him. 1 lis thoughts were always, Imagine this world without music.
I le would say," ihe quality ol music, like the quality
ol air we breathe is so vital to our existence.
(diaries would go on to develop music programs
through partnerships with numerous school
systems in the (neater Atlanta area as well as
working with community centered agencies
such as the Center lor Puppetry Arts and Ihe
I ligh Museum of Art.
(diaries devotion to education and his
unyielding quest lor knowledge led him
to obtain an Associates ol Science degree in
2016 (at the age ol 6X) Irom Georgia Stale University.

was culminated just this year on Pebruary 22, 2019 with the theme "It s
AH About Love. Il epitomized who (diaries was at his very core. Charles
loved everyone and treated them with that same kindness
