Mrs. Carole Jewell Anderson Kenner of 2715 Boars Head Road in
Augusta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at University Hospital
on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the blessed age of eighty-two. Born
in Greenville, South Carolina, on November 7, 1937, she was
the youngest daughter of the late Winfred and Lucia Robinson
Anderson.
At an early age, Carole dedicated her life to growing in her faith
and relationship with the Lord. She became a member of Allen
Temple A.M.E. Church, where she was involved in many youth
ministries. Carole attended the public schools of Greenville
County, graduating from Sterling High School in the Class
of 1954 as an honor student. She continued her education in
Greensboro, North Carolina, at Bennett College, where she
received a B.A. Degree in Music Education. Carole then furthered
her love of learning by earning a Masters Degree in Music from
the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Upon graduating from
this program of study, Carole went on to hold teaching positions
in Richmond County and Columbia County, Georgia, where she
nurtured scholars of all ages and backgrounds through the love
of music and academic success.
Carole lived a highly active and meaningful life in Augusta,
Georgia. Throughout this time, she was involved in numerous
religious, cultural, civic, educational, and social activities,
which brought her great pleasure and fulfillment. Among those
organizations where she gave her time, devotion, and expertise
were: Meals on Wheels, Eastern Star, Delta SigmaTheta, Sorority,
Inc., The Red Hatters, The Greenville Moles, and several Bridge
Clubs. Carole was a role model and inspiration to youth from all
over the Augusta area. She owned a private piano studio where
she taught individual lessons for many years and delighted
students and parents with her premier piano recitals.
It was sixty-one years ago that Carole Kenner joined Bethel
A.M.E. Church in Augusta, Georgia, where she became a very
devoted and dedicated member.
&wefi
She modeled what it meant to be a loyal Christian, as she read
her Bible daily, and she was faithful in attending the Noon Day
Bible Study. Carole was fully committed to her church family.
Her contributions to Bethel were numerous. She served as the
former treasurer of the Trustee Board, Trustee Emeritus, and
President of the Choraliers for twenty-five years, where she
was honored by the board in 2019. She also served as Co-chair
of Womens Day, the Historical Committee of Bethel, Womens
Missionary Society, Chairman of the Prayer Warriors, a Sunday
School teacher, a member of the Drama Department, musician of
the former Hannah Stephen Choir, the Sunbeam Choir, and the
Mass Choir. Carole always offered her service by providing music
for the L.w. Hudson Male Usher Board Annual Family Banquet.
She even taught music to youth members of Bethel Church, and
she helped organize the Bethel A.M.E. Church Summer Youth
Program, where she educated third-grade students.
Mrs. Kenner was extremely proud, of her family and she
expressed this as a devoted wife, a beloved mother, a loving
sister, an adoring grandmother, a caring aunt, and a special lady
to so many others.
Carole is survived by: her husband, Alexander Kenner, Jr.;
two sons, Carlo Alexander Kenner of Alpharetta, Georgia and
Windred Scottson Kenner of Yorktown, Virginia; her sister,
Winifred Anderson Lykes of Greenville, South Carolina; two
grandsons, Carl Anderson Kenner and Curtis Anthony Kenner,
both of Marietta, Georgia; her niece, Carole Lykes Williams
(Reginald) of Willmington, Delaware; and a host of other
relatives and friends.
Carole Kenners life was a living example of one of her favorite
Bible verses, And we have known and believed the love that God has for
us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

The Service of Committal
Reverend Augusta H. Hall, Jr.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
FOR HIS names SAKE.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I WILL FEAR NO EVIL: FOR THOU ART WITH ME;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
IN THE PRESENCE OF MINE ENEMIES:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER.
Surely goodness and mercy
SHALL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE:
AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOR EVER.

My Fathers way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache;
But in my soul Im glad I know,
He maketh no mistake.
Theres so much now I cannot see,
My eyesights far too dim;
But come what may Ill simply trust,
And leave it all to Him.
For by and by the mist will lift,
And plain it all Hell make;
Throughout all the ways, though dark to me,
He made not one mistake.

When tomorrow starts without me, And Im not there to see. If the sun should
RISE AND FIND YOUR EYES, ALL FILLED WITH TEARS FOR ME; I WISH SO MUCH YOU WOULDNT
CRY THE WAY YOU DID TODAY, WHILE THINKING OF THE MANY THINGS, WE DIDNT GET TO
I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE ME, AS MUCH AS I LOVE YOU, AND EACH TIME
THINK OF ME, I KNOW YOULL MISS ME TOO; BUT WHEN TOMORROW STARTS
ME, PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND, THAT AN ANGEL CAME AND CALLED MY NAME, AND TOOK
ME BY THE HAND, AND SAID MY PLACE WAS READY, IN HEAVEN FAR ABOVE, AND THAT Id
HAVE TO LEAVE BEHIND ALL THOSE I DEARLY LOVE; BUT AS I TURNED TO WALK AWAY, A TEAR
FELL FROM MY EYE, FOR ALL MY LIFE, Id ALWAYS THOUGHT, I DIDNT WANT TO DIE. I HAD
SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR, SO MUCH LEFT YET TO DO, IT ALMOST SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE THAT I
WAS LEAVING YOU. I THOUGHT OF ALL THE YESTERDAYS, THE GOOD ONES AND THE BAD, I
THOUGHT OF ALL THE LOVE WE SHARED, AND ALL THE FUN WE HAD. If I COULD RELIVE
YESTERDAY, JUST EVEN FOR A WHILE, Id SAY GOOD-BYE AND KISS YOU, AND MAYBE SEE
YOU SMILE; BUT THEN I FULLY REALIZED, THAT THIS COULD NEVER BE, FOR EMPTINESS AND
WOULD TAKE THE PLACE OF ME.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought
OF YOU, AND WHEN I DID, MY HEART WAS FILLED WITH SORROW. BUT WHEN I WALKED
THROUGH HEAVENS GATES, I FELT SO MUCH AT HOME. WHEN God LOOKED DOWN AND
SMILED AT ME, FROM HlS GREAT GOLDEN THRONE, HE SAID, THIS IS ETERNITY, AND ALL
Ive promised you. Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew. I
PROMISE NO TOMORROW, BUT TODAY WILL ALWAYS LAST, AND SINCE EACH DAYS THE SAME
WAY THERES NO LONGING FOR THE PAST. YOU HAVE BEEN SO FAITHFUL, SO TRUSTING AND SO
true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldnt do.
But you have been forgiven and now at last youre free. So wont you come and
TAKE MY HAND AND SHARE MY LIFE WITH ME? So WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT
ME, DONT THINK WERE FAR APART, FOR EVERY TIME YOU THINK OF ME, Im RIGHT HERE,
D
IN YOUR HEART.

The family gratefully acknowledges all of the comforting prayers and expressions of
support and sympathy during this time of bereavement. May God bless you always.
