OBITUARY
m
Laura Mae Dickerson Kelly was born July 11, 1920 in
Richmond County, GA to the late George and Rebecca Anna
Dickerson. She was the fourth of nine children and a dedicated
sister to her siblings. She enjoyed telling stories of her child-
hood days.
She was converted and baptized at Spirit Creek Baptist
Church at an early age. She graduated from Walker Institute
School, Augusta, GA., in May 1938. On July 7, 1942, Laura
married Thomas Kelly, Sr., and from this union was born four
children. She was a devout Christian and very active in her
church life before her health declined. She was a member of
the Sunday School and appointed to Youth Church Board of
Directors at its founding in 1960. She was a Deaconess since
its inception in 1970 holding the office of treasurer, a member
of the Church Mission, and the Senior Choir. Also, she was a
member of the Primrose Matrons Club and the Community
Charity Aid Savings Club, charitable organizations.
Mrs. Kelly was deeply rooted in her Christian faith. She
believed in God being first in her life and emulating His love
through family unity as well as relationships with others.
Another passion of hers was to encourage youth to advance
their education. She was an enthusiastic homemaker and
could bake a mean chocolate cake.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of
sixty-two years, Thomas, Sr., four children Angeline (Raymond)
White, Joyce (Al) Robinson, Jr., Thomas (Linda) Kelly, Jr., of
Augusta, GA., and Henry (Joanne) Kelly of Atlanta, GA.,four
sisters Dorothy Bogan, Nannie Myles, Josephine Pryor and
Fannie Wells, three sister-in-laws, Willie Maude Dickerson,
Julia Mae Kelly, and Emma Lou Williams and one brother-in
law, James Williams, all of Augusta, GA., one godson, Armond
Rouchard Reese of Atlanta, GA., nineteen grandchildren, nine-
teen great grand children, and one great-great grandson. Other
survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives
and friends.
